Find out moreThis SuperQuilt multifoil insulation by YBS is a thin, lightweight, flexible insulation product that is suitable for use in roofs, walls and floors. When used in roofs, it can be installed both over and under rafters as well as between and around purlins.
This SuperQuilt is a highly versatile solution which is effortless to fit into timber frames, cavity walls, dry lining and external walls, as well as in suspended timber ceilings, crawl spaces and floating timbers. It is designed to reflect infra-red radiation and deal with conduction, radiation and convection, which reduces cold bridging and heat build-up during the summer months.
What's more, this SuperQuilt is tested to an EN16012 Thermal Insulation for Buildings standard and offers impressive thermal resistance at the core of 1.52 m²K/W thanks to its multiple layers and special composition. Additionally, it is tear-resistant and simple to cut with a craft knife to the appropriate size, making it quick and easy to install.
Question:
What R value does this achieve for pitched roofs?
Answer:
The thermal resistance value when applied in roofs is 2.70m²K/W.
Question:
The house is 1950s no underfelt just tiles backpointed could I fit this insulation straight to the roof spars leaving a 100mm gap behind, yes the spars are only 4x2 with some big purlins. Then counter batten and plasterboard or does it require something behind? RegardsPaul
Answer:
You'd need a breather membrane between the insulation and the roof tiles ideally, so install something like Supro first, counter batten, Superquilt, counter batten and then plasterboard.
Question:
can I cover existing insulation on the loft floor with superquilt as well as the rafters.
Answer:
You can do if you wish, but I would recommend stapling the Superquilt direct to the joists if you do, and put some foil tape over where the Superquilt overlaps the next piece etc, to help reduce thermal bridging.
Question:
Can I screw plaster board direct onto the Superquilt, or does it require battening over?
Answer:
Good afternoon to you. In order to utilize this product to its fullest potential, the manufacturers do recommend battening over, as that would give the Superquilt the 25mm airgap it needs to work in the correct manner, and perform at the stated Thermal Resistance Value.
