Find out moreBy accommodating diverse moisture levels and regulating humidity within building components, Tyvek® AirGuard® Smart makes a cutting-edge air and vapour layer that safeguards structures against environmental harm. It includes a polymeric coating and allows for greater energy efficiency, as well as improved interior comfort.
With a unique design, this layer facilitates quicker removal of embedded humidity in new construction elements and prevents the intrusion of humidity from living spaces into the structure. By doing this, the likelihood of costly damage caused by dampness and mould is reduced.
Created for use in both new build and refurbishment projects, this product suits installation in conventional dry-lining applications from the inside, as well as the outside when commencing renovation work.
Question:
Is this suitable to lay underneath insulation in attic, renovating 1960's house with poor loft insulation. Is it a vapour barrier or vapour control item? Also what is the advantage of control vs barrier in a loft?
Answer:
A vapour barrier and a vapour control layer are essentially the same thing, their main purpose is to be used as an airtight layer on the warm side of the roof to minimise the risk of condensation, they will not much provide much in the way of thermal benefit so is best combined with insulation to acheive effect.
