This SilentWool Acoustic Insulation Underlay is especially popular in older houses where there may be existing gaps in the floorboards, allowing underfloor drafts to make a room feel cold. The thick layer of this SilentWool Insulation under a carpet will also act as a long-lasting underlay, protecting the carpet from premature wear and tear. This SilentWool Carpet roll is 10m in length with a density of 750g/m².
This SilentWool Acoustic Insulation Underlay is manufactured with Ionic Protect, a biocide-free wool protection system. Ecological, sustainable and durability proven, the procedure treats the wool fibre in a plasma-ionic way aiming to protect it against all the negative influences of the building environment. Ionic Protect sustains and protects the sheep wool insulation, acting as a natural moth repellent and deters the fibres from being eaten. Question:
I have an old flat, floor is traditional timber joist and floor boards. I wish to improve the soundproofing a bit to avoid undue disturbance to the occupant below and change our carpet colour. Existing carpet and 10mm underlay are in good condition. Can I leave the existing carpet and underlay in place and cover it with your silent wool and new carpet. This would avoid waste and reduce footfall noise.

Provided the existing build up is in good condition and hasn't been exposed to dampness or excess moisture, this underlay can be used in conjunction as an additional layer.
