This Monocouche XF is a through-colour cement-based render system that can be applied in one coat, directly onto open-faced 7kn to 10kn general-purpose concrete blockwork. It can also be installed onto other block types, stonework, brickwork and most masonry construction with the support of MonoBase XF polymer modified base coat and MonoMesh XF alkali-resistant mesh, applied in the best practices of build-up specification as advised.
The substrate should be constructed with a sufficient movement control design, containing expansion joints and/or bed joint reinforcement as per the specific blockwork manufacturer's guidelines and in conjunction with BS 6093 Code of Practice for the design of joints and jointing in building construction and BS 5628-3 Code of Practice for use of masonry.
The addition of the MonoBase XF and MonoMesh XF layer provides greater flexibility and resistance to movement within the substrate whilst increasing protection against weathering and water penetration. MonoMesh XF alkali-resistant mesh is embedded into the material to surround openings and absorb stress. Guidance on constructing to receive Monocouche XF in one coat can be found within the XF Construction Guide.
For a successful render system installation, it is crucial to ensure that the masonry substrates are stable, free from loose materials and thoroughly cleaned to eliminate dust and debris. Before installing the render system, it is essential to allow newly constructed masonry to dry adequately. You can achieve a seamless finish by ensuring that the mortar jointing is flushed level with the surrounding masonry or blockwork. To prepare the surface for the render system, use MonoBase XF for levelling. When making direct contact with the masonry, it is important to prevent contamination.
