Description

Available in a box of six, this Manthorpe G242-125 Cavity Closer is crafted from lightweight materials and ideal for use around timber doors and windows. It is easy to install without special tools and includes a single flange feature for use in standard in-line cavity wall details.

When tested as a whole detail, including timber window/door frames and plasterboard, this cavity closer can be used as a part of a detail to meet the needs of a cavity barrier set out in Part B of the building regulations. It also proves effective in sill configurations by cutting lengths to match the window width and placing them within the cavity at the sill. For horizontal applications, it is recommended to include a Damp Proof Course (DPC).

This closer is versatile, suitable for individual use or preformed into frames and directly fixed to window and door frames. While it measures 2.5m in length, it can be cut with a saw without impeding its thermal efficiency. For certain products, PVC flanges provide a secure method of fixing.

The use of G245 and G246 Plastic Fixing Clips allows the closer to be mortared securely to the brickwork. The clips also facilitate the joining of shorter closure lengths and minimise wastage.

Please note:

  • The cavity closer is non-load bearing and should not be used as replacement for traditional methods of fixing window and door frames to the masonry.
