With a fibre-free rigid thermoset phenolic core, this 72.5mm thick, Kooltherm insulated plasterboard from Kingspan is a premium performance, lower lambda internal wall insulation. Featuring a 12.5mm plasterboard bonded to its front side and a composite foil based layer on its back, it is well suited for mechanically fixed or adhesive bonded/plaster dab dry-lining.

Questions & Answers

Question:

Can this board be attached directly to an internal stone wall mate if an external wall using mechanical Fixings and adhesive ? Is it breathable tonallownstine wall to breath ? Can it be skimmed with a breathable mix such as lime ? Can any cables be routed behind it ? Thx

Answer:

Yes, it can be mechanically fixed and dab-bonded, but it is generally NOT recommended on solid stone walls as it is not a breathable product and could trap moisture in the stone. You can use lime plaster however this would not solve the moisture risk. Best practice would be either surface-mount conduits or create a service void in front of insulation.

Question:

can it be used on a pitched roof. Will I have to use 100mm Kingspan insulation between joist and nogings as well or is it good enough to use without as a ceiling?

Answer:

This is designed to be used in an internal wall application, not in a pitched roof.
