Description

This 25mm x 38mm Graded Roofing Batten is the highest grade of roofing batten offered by SR Timber, featuring a unique and distinctive gold coloration that does not conceal potential defects found in traditional battens. Produced from the highest grade, slow-grown spruce (Whitewood) Picea abies or pine (Redwood) Pinus sylvestris both species are covered under the WPPA species code.

The raw material is pre-graded before processing to ensure a superior finished grade of roofing batten. The visual grading process, which assesses defects such as dimensions, knots, wane, fissures, splits, slope of grain, rate of growth, decay, insect attack, and resin pockets, is third-party assessed and audited by CATG to ensure compliance with BS 5534:2014 + A2:2018.

These battens are dried to maintain the correct moisture content as recommended by British Standards, not exceeding 22% at the time of fixing. They are individually piece marked for full identity and treated with Vacsol Aqua preservative using a double vacuum treatment (Vac-Vac) to BS 8417:2011 + A1:2014. This treatment comes with a standard 60-year lifetime warranty against insect attack and wood-rotting fungi when used correctly and installed above the damp proof course level in buildings.
